ABOUT IRCA
Our aim is not only to make our beneficiaries substance-free but also to improve their quality of life by providing comprehensive support.
We have all taken pledge to make our society free of addiction. With our continuous efforts, we believe that one day we will achieve success in making our society, our nation ‘Nasha Mukt’.
Identification and Assessment
When a patient arrives at our centre, our doctor does medical checkup and at the same time our counseling staff collect all possible information about the patient from the family members accompanying the patient. After that, we assess the patient through ‘Screening Proforma’. If the assessment shows that the patient is in ‘high risk’ category, then we admit him in our rehabilitation centre. But if the patient is in ‘low risk’ or ‘moderate risk’ category, then
we do brief intervention; we counsel him in outdoor. Once the patient who is in ‘high risk’ category is admitted, we carry out an initial assessment of the patient with the help of ‘Initial Assessment Proforma’.
Treatment and Daily Routine
In the morning, our patients wake up at 6 o’clock. After easing themselves and washing their mouths and faces, the patients have wet chickpeas and peanuts. Post that they start doing physical exercise. Finishing their exercise, they offer prayers to the Almighty. Next, they take tea with biscuits. In between 8 o’clock and 9 o’clock in the morning, the patients take bath and finish their Tiffin. At the beginning of our official hours, individual counseling sessions are
done. After the completion of counseling sessions, lunch is served to the patients. In the afternoon, group counseling is conducted. Once the group counseling is over, patients get to spent some leisure time and tea and biscuits are served to them. In the evening, Tiffin is served to them. In the following time, patients watch television, play indoor games like carrom, ludo, chess etc. Patients also discuss among themselves whatever they learned in the counseling sessions, have friendly conversations, share thoughts with each other. At night, in between 9 pm to 9:30 pm the patients have their dinner and go to sleep within 10:30 pm.
As far as providing medical services are concerned, our doctor comes four times a week for checkup. Besides, he also comes to centre whenever he is required. The vitals of the patients i.e. blood pressure, weight, temperature and oxygen concentration, pulse are monitored everyday by our nurses. Medicines are given to the patients by our nurses as per our doctor’s prescription. Our ward boys keep a watch on the patients round the clock. In case of medical emergency, we refer our patients to nearby government hospital. We have also built a network with local doctors and diagnostic centre to provide so that our patients can get all possible medical care.
Family Counseling is conducted with the family members of the patients to educate them about addiction, to get a better picture about the patients and also to reconcile the patients with their family members if there is any discord.
We also provide after care to the patients through follow-ups and home visits. We ensure regular follow-ups of the patients as well as telephonic follow-ups. We also pay visits to the homes of the patients. In after care, we try our best to provide continuous support to the patients.
